How to convert HEIC to JPG in 3 steps

No software to install and nothing to upload. The whole conversion takes a few seconds per photo.

    1

    Add your HEIC photos

Drag and drop up to 20 .heic or .heif files into the box above, click to browse, or paste them straight from your clipboard.

    2

    Pick JPG and a quality

JPG is selected by default — 90% quality is the sweet spot for photos. Switch to PNG if you need a lossless file.

    3

    Convert and download

Press Convert, then download each JPG on its own or grab everything at once in a single ZIP file.

    Why convert HEIC to JPG?

HEIC is a clever format — it stores the same photo in about half the space of JPG. The trouble starts when the photo leaves your iPhone: Windows PCs, upload forms, email clients, printers and older apps often cannot open HEIC at all. A JPG copy opens everywhere, which makes it the safe format for sharing, uploading and printing.

    🔒 Private by design

Most online converters upload your photos to their servers. JPGDrop converts in your browser, so personal photos never leave your device.

    ⚡ Fast batch conversion

Convert a whole camera roll at once — up to 20 files per batch — then download everything together as one ZIP.

    🎚️ Quality under your control

A quality slider lets you balance file size against sharpness. Keep 90% or higher for prints, go lower for quick uploads.

    🆓 Free, with no catches

No sign-up, no daily limits, no watermarks, no credits. The tool runs on your device, so it costs us nothing to let you use it freely.

    📱 Works on every device

Use it on the same iPhone that took the photo, a Windows PC, a Mac, or an Android phone — any modern browser will do.

    🧹 Metadata stays behind

Converted files do not carry over EXIF data such as GPS location — one less thing to worry about before sharing a photo publicly.

    Limitations

    • Only the main image inside a HEIC file is converted — Live Photo motion and Portrait depth data cannot be represented in JPG or PNG.
    • Decoding HEIC is processor-heavy, so very large photos can take a few seconds each, and older phones are slower.
    • EXIF metadata (including location and camera details) is not preserved in the converted file.
    • A browser tab has limited memory — if a batch of huge photos struggles, split it into smaller batches.

    Troubleshooting

    • A file failed to convert. It may be a corrupted HEIC or a variant your browser cannot decode. Try a smaller batch, or open the photo on your iPhone and re-export it.
    • Nothing happens when I add files. Make sure JavaScript is enabled and the files really end in .heic or .heif.
    • The tab feels slow. HEIC decoding uses your device's processor. Close other heavy tabs and convert in smaller batches.
    • Colors look slightly different. Wide-gamut (Display P3) photos are mapped to sRGB in JPG, which can soften very vivid colors slightly.

    Frequently asked questions

Add your .heic photos to the converter above (drag and drop, browse, or paste), keep JPG selected, choose a quality, and press Convert. Download each JPG on its own or all of them together as a ZIP file.
Yes. JPGDrop is completely free with no daily limits, no sign-up, no watermarks and no credits. Because the conversion runs in your browser, there is no server cost to pass on to you.
No. Your photos are decoded and converted entirely inside your browser on your own device. There is no upload step, so your files never leave your device and we could not see or store them even if we wanted to.
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in the HEIC format, which uses the HEVC codec. Windows, many websites, email clients and older apps cannot read HEIC without extra codecs, so the photos appear broken or get rejected. Converting them to JPG fixes the problem because JPG opens everywhere.
Both HEIC and JPG are lossy formats, so a small amount of quality is given up when re-encoding. At a quality setting of 90% or higher the difference is not visible in normal use. If you need a lossless result, choose PNG as the output format instead.
Yes. JPGDrop works in mobile browsers on iPhone and Android as well as on Windows, Mac and Linux computers. Nothing needs to be installed.
